Bunsen-Tagung 2020
Dear friends of the Bunsentagung 2020 and dear friends of the Bunsen Society,
You all know that this year is already and will further be a big challenge for all of us. The action taken against the spreading of the corona virus disease (COVID-19) affects us now all in almost every part of our daily lives. With deep regret, we have to announce that – differing from our first message concerning the shift of the Bunsentagung – we cannot run the Bunsentagung 2020 in Giessen at all. We have to cancel the Bunsentagung 2020. The University of Giessen had to decide (following rules of the state government) to not allow any meeting or conference within the university until September 30, 2020. As no necessary rooms are available in October and later, due to the winter semester and teaching, there can be no other decision than to cancel the Bunsentagung for this year.
This is a truly disappointing and frustrating decision, as we worked hard for a great conference, and as we were looking forward to hosting you in Giessen. We are grateful to the local team, which did its best to organize the first “Non-Himmelfahrt” Bunsentagung.
In case you are interested in donating the registration fee you have already paid to DBG in order to support incurring cancellation costs, please let us know and we will inform you about further action.
We thank for your loyalty to the Bunsentagung and to us, and we apologize for any inconvenience. We will let you know in due time on the upcoming Bunsentagung 2021 and other meetings of the Bunsen Society.
We wish you all the best, remain part of the Bunsen family, take care and stay healthy,
Yours
Jürgen Janek
Peter R. Schreiner
Martin Suhm
On behalf of the Deutsche Bunsen-Gesellschaft (DBG) we would like to thank the following companies for their generous financial support despite the cancellation of the "Bunsentagung 2020" as well as all the participants who offered to donate to the DBG.
In these unusual times, we all have to support and take care of each other which is why we are very grateful for every donation that helps us to keep the financial damage as small as possible.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the coronavirus COVID-19.
Take care and stay healthy!
Yours,
the DBG-team
