Abstract: This perspective discusses our personal experience with collaborations, mainly with each other as a dual career couple in academia, but also with other collaborators in general. We explore how to manage and exploit different working styles, how to choose collaborators, who is in charge for a particular project, and how to choose collaborative projects. We describe how mutual respect and admiration are the cornerstones of our scientific working relationship.
