Abstract: Fast field cycling (FFC) NMR relaxometry probes molecular dynamics across a broad range of timescales. Using ionic liquids as model systems, the combination of complex relaxation models, selective isotope substitution and additional molecular dynamics (MD) simulations enables a quantitative separation of rotational and translational motion. Finally, these approaches improve the reliable determination of corresponding rotational correlation times and self-diffusion coefficients.
