CataLight Young Scientist Symposium (CYSS)

PhD Students Organize Online Conference on Light-Driven Catalysis

PhD students of the collaborative research centre CataLight, located at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Ulm University, the University of Vienna, the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology Jena, and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research Mainz are organizing a symposium on light-driven catalysis in November 2020.

The CataLight Young Scientist Symposium will take place exclusively online and is aimed at scientists at an early career stage, especially doctoral students and young postdocs.

The symposium will take place online every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from November 10th to 26th 2020. Young group leaders who have already taken their first career steps start each conference day with an invited guest lectures about their current research. Afterwards, doctoral students will have the opportunity to present their research in the form of a lecture or a digital poster session. We invite all interested PhD students and postdocs to submit their own contribution from September 1 to 30, 2020. Participation in the conference is free of charge.

The DFG-funded project CataLight (SFB/TRR 234) studies photo-active molecules and materials as sustainable energy converters inspired by nature. Just like CataLight, the conference is interdisciplinary and covers many aspects of the research area: from theoretical calculations over the synthesis of catalytic systems and their characterization to actual applications.
