Abstract: We review briefly the role of symmetries in the time evolution of molecular quantum systems as well as of biomolecular systems leading to biological evolution. Emphasis is placed on fundamental concepts and the role of approximate symmetries in defining different time scales for primary processes. We provide a brief summary of a new foundation of tunneling spectra and the current status of our work on parity violation in chiral molecules.
