More than 800 participants attend the annual scientific meeting of the BunsenSociety, the Bunsentagung. The Bunsentagung is a major event and plays an important role in the international development of physical chemical research. Internationally renowned experts report on recent developments in the key topics of the Bunsentagung and discuss them with participants.
- Discussion meetings and colloquia
International Bunsen Discussion meetings are held biannually. The Bunsen Colloquia cover specific focused topics and are perfect forums for specialists for the exchange of ideas and experience.
The journal Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics (PCCP) is a real treasure trove, which contains original works of well-known researchers from all over the world. It is available to members of the German Bunsen Society at a special price. In addition every two months all members of the Bunsen Society receive the Bunsen Magazine which provides news about physical chemistry, current developments, job offers and more.
- Support of young scientists and awards
The Bunsen Society annually awards the Nernst-Haber-Bodenstein Prize to a young scientist for excellent work in experimental or theoretical aspects of physical chemistry. The Bunsen Society also awards several other prizes, i. e. the Bunsen Medal, the Walter Nernst Medal or the van't Hoff Prize,, honouring outstanding scientists.
- Working groups
The working groups Theoretical Chemistry (AGTC - Arbeitsgemeinschaft Theoretische Chemie) and Fluid Crystals (DFKG - Deutsche Flüssigkristall Gesellschaft) are closely linked to the Bunsen Society. Both working groups organise their own events and foster intensive professional exchange among scientists from industry and academia in their respective fields.
